YouTube guide to Christmas decorating ideas

I had hoped to spend the day at the Spirit of Christmas at Olympia at the invitation of Jenny Duff but it was not to be.  From the comfort of my sofa, I would need to seek creative inspiration from another direction. YouTube.

The best present my husband has ever bought me is my Tablet.  Six months earlier he had persuaded me to get a smart phone.  Why would I need one? I could text and phone just fine on my old one.  And then I discovered YouTube.  Up to that point I had dismissed it, presuming that it was filled with clips of cats doing silly things.  But my head has been turned.  What a valuable learning resource.

With the luxury of a bigger screen I have come across some great YouTube channels and am now spreading my search terms far and wide.  One of my favourite channels features a Danish florist.  I can’t understand a word she says (reading body language and prior knowledge gets me by).  It’s perfect.  I can sit on the sofa watching the videos on mute and not annoy my TV watching family members!

Recently, I put out a call to my Facebook friends and asked for some help with the translation of Christmas greetings into other European languages.  Can you match the phrase to the country?

  1. Nadolig Llawen & Blwyddyn Newydd Dda
  2. Feliz Navidad
  3. God Helg
  4. Vrolijk Kerstfeest en gelukkig nieuwjaar for merry Xmas and happy new year
  5. Frohe Weihnachten und ein Gesundes Neues Jahr oder Froehliche Weihnachten
  6. Joyeux Noël

As you can image I’ve had a fruitful afternoon surfing the net.  Perhaps one of these clips will inspire you to get out into the garden to source some bits and pieces to use in your home over the Christmas period.  Let me know how you get on.

I’m counting down the days to my seasonal workshops.  The Christmas decorating ideas event in Faversham is now fully booked.  However, there are places on the Advent workshop at Hempstead House Hotel.

Until next time, happy flowers!
